10 Amazing Short Stories

Every picture has a story behind it. The following ten pictures tell ten different stories of my life.

Working at Fry's

I saw interesting things all the time during the five years I worked at Fry’s Electronics. Between unusual products, odd customers, and employee disputes, every day was a new experience—like the time a customer browsed the aisles with a wallaby in his backpack.

2014 Indy 500

The Indy 500 is known as “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” and watching it in person, it’s easy to see why. The cars reach speeds of over 230 miles per hour, producing a noise level of 140 decibels[1]. My friend Harez and I had a great view of the action from the 14th row back on the start/finish line.

Trip to St. Louis

St. Louis. The Lou. Gateway to the West. Whatever you call it, St. Louis is a beautiful city that has something to offer for everyone. My wife and I visited the St. Louis Zoo and the Budweiser brewery in 2014.

Alligator

It’s one thing to see an alligator in a zoo—where you’re separated from the animal by a fence or a thick layer of safety glass. Standing ten feet from a large alligator in the wild is another experience entirely. I got to see an alligator from up close when it swam up next to the shore near Sarasota, FL. Knowing that the alligator could have easily grabbed me and dragged me into the water made this an experience that I’ll never forget.

Me Atop Kennesaw Mountain

Kennesaw State University’s logo isn’t actually two slightly bent coat hangers that are missing their hooks. The peaks in the background are supposed to represent Kennesaw Mountain[2]. My wife and I visited my family members in Kennesaw several times before we moved to Georgia. We climbed Kennesaw Mountain during one of these trips—taking many exciting pictures along the way.

At the Colts Game

Question: Who was the best football team to win Super Bowl XLI?

Answer: The Indianapolis Colts

Although I didn’t get to go to Super Bowl XLI (I’m currently in school so that hopefully one day I’ll have that kind of disposable income), I have been to quite a few regular season Colts games. Watching football on TV is great in several aspects (multiple angles, replays, can watch naked if you like), there’s nothing quite like going to see your favorite NFL team play live.

Our Trip to Walt Disney World

Life can really suck sometimes. Fortunately there’s a place that instantly makes you forget about everything else an actually enjoy yourself. Walt Disney World isn’t just for kids—it’s fun for anyone with money. It’s amazing what $4000 gets you these days.

Sophie

Pets can be a wonderful addition to any family. While being a pet owner can be stressful at times, pet ownership offers companionship and excitement. Pets can even improve their owner’s health[3]. I was fortunate enough to be able to accompany my mother-in-law when she adopted her dog, a Jack Russell Terrier named Sophie… and the excitement began.

My Cat's Thoughtful Gift to Me

Ah, the joys of owning a cat. As all cat owners are aware, cats have a tendency to bring their owners gifts in the form of small animals. If you’re lucky, sometimes these gifts are still alive. This was the case one day when our cat, Sarsaparilla (Sassy), brought us a baby rabbit.

Bonus “Fun Fact”

Did you know that rabbits can vocalize?

I sure didn’t. It turns out that they are in fact capable producing a loud, horrifying scream when they’re being carried around the yard in a cat’s mouth.

My Wife and Me!

Stories about me aren’t complete without the story of my relationship with my wife. From the moment I met her to the present day, there’s never a dull moment when the two of us are together.
